What this covers
Cookies and any equivalent technology that stores information on, or reads information from, your device: local storage, session storage, software development kits, tracking pixels, embedded fonts and images, social plugins, and device fingerprinting.
The rule we apply
Under Regulation 5(3) of the European Communities (Electronic Communications Networks and Services) (Privacy and Electronic Communications) Regulations 2011 (S.I. 336/2011) we must obtain your consent before storing or accessing anything on your device. Two narrow exemptions apply: where the sole purpose is carrying out the transmission of a communication over a network (Regulation 5(5)(a)), and where the storage or access is strictly necessary to provide a service you have explicitly requested (Regulation 5(5)(b)). We interpret both narrowly. Consent must meet the GDPR standard: freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous, given by clear affirmative action.
- No non-essential cookie is set before you choose. Not on page load, not while the banner is open
- Rejecting is as easy as accepting. "Reject all" sits on the first layer, in the same size, colour weight and position as "Accept all"
- Consent is per purpose. You can accept analytics and refuse everything else
- Nothing is pre-ticked. All optional toggles default to off
- Scrolling, continuing to browse, or closing the banner is not consent
- If you make no choice at all, no optional cookies are set and the banner appears again on your next visit
- You can change your mind at any time from the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page. Withdrawing is as easy as giving
- We ask again every six months, in line with Data Protection Commission guidance

Analytics — consent required
We do not currently use any analytics tool on this website. If we introduce one, this table will be updated with its real name, purpose and duration before it is switched on — and it will not run until you accept it in the banner.
No advertising, no tracking
We do not use advertising, retargeting, social media tracking or real-time bidding technologies on this site.
Content loaded from other services
Even without cookies, loading a resource from another company's server sends that company your IP address and browser details. Where we do this, we say so:
- Fonts: loaded from Google Fonts
- Images: loaded from Unsplash
- Embedded maps, video, LinkedIn widgets: none
Managing your choices
